El DUW 6101 no se entiende sin Glashütte. La pequeña ciudad sajona ha sido

The DUW 6101 cannot be understood without Glashütte. The small Saxon town has been
the epicentre of German watchmaking since 1845, when Ferdinand Adolph Lange
founded the first manufacture. After German reunification (1990), Nomos
was born to pick up that tradition from a different angle: Bauhaus, affordable,
modern. The DUW 6101 is the end point of a 30-year trajectory of
transition from modified ebauches to complete manufacture.

further: it adds a date complication without thickening the calibre.

A diferencia del clásico "guichet" cuadrado de fecha (Powermatic, Sellita, Miyota),

The Update system · how the annular ring date works
Unlike the classic square date "guichet" (Powermatic, Sellita, Miyota),
the DUW 6101 displays the 31 days printed on the outer edge of the dial
in a discrete ring. A red marker points to the current day. At the end of the month,
the mechanism rotates the entire annular ring in a single smooth action. This allows:
Keeping the calibre extremely thin (3.6 mm) — there is no date disc beneath the dial.
Freeing the central dial space for complete Bauhaus purity.
Simultaneously displaying all 31 days → a "calendar" notion rather than just a "date".
Quick-set via crown push, not by pulling to an intermediate position.

Ferdinand Adolph Lange founds the first manufacture in Glashütte with the King of Saxony's support. He defines the German style: 3/4 bridges, geometric ribbing, blued screws, gold chatons. It is the technical DNA from which, 175 years later, all modern Glashütte calibres descend including the DUW 6101.

After World War II, the private manufactures of Glashütte are nationalised into a single state company (VEB GUB). Stylistic refinement is lost but the technical know-how is preserved. This era explains why Glashütte survived as a watchmaking capital and why, after 1990 reunification, there were local technical cadres to found Nomos, Glashütte Original and revive A. Lange.

Hasta entonces dependían de Nivarox-FAR (Swatch Group). Este es el momento de transición decisiva — Nomos deja de ser assembler y se convierte en manufactura completa. After a €13 million investment, Nomos unveils its fully in-house escapement: pallet fork, escape wheel, balance and hairspring manufactured in Glashütte. Until then they depended on Nivarox-FAR (Swatch Group). This is the decisive transition moment — Nomos stops being an assembler and becomes a complete manufacture. It is the base on which the whole subsequent DUW family is built.
