Sin el Cal. 59 no hay Tutima moderna. Es el calibre histórico al que se refieren explícitamente todas las decisiones técnicas de la marca desde 1997 — y, especialmente, el Tempostopp Cal. T-659 de 2017. Esta sección desentraña su arquitectura, su contexto militar y su lineage hasta hoy.

El contexto · Fliegerchronograph estándar alemán 1939–1945

En 1939, al inicio de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, la Luftwaffe alemana necesitaba un cronógrafo de pulsera estandarizado para sus pilotos. Las funciones críticas eran: (1) cronometrar tramos de navegación (un piloto en una misión de bombardeo o reconocimiento marcaba el inicio de cada leg al sobrevolar un waypoint), (2) ejecutar retornos instantáneos entre legs consecutivos (un piloto no podía permitirse parar el cronógrafo, reiniciarlo y arrancarlo de nuevo en pleno vuelo — necesitaba flyback), (3) mantener legibilidad en condiciones de cabina (índices luminosos, contraste alto), (4) resistir el frío extremo de altitud y las vibraciones del motor.

Dos casas alemanas asumieron el desarrollo en paralelo: Hanhart (fundada en 1882, en Schwenningen, Selva Negra · cronógrafos militares desde 1939 con su Calibre 41) y Tutima (vía UROFA, en Glashütte · con su Calibre 59 desde 1941). Las dos producciones combinadas constituyen el patrimonio del Fliegerchronograph alemán de la WWII. No fueron las únicas piezas mecánicas que la Luftwaffe usó —los pilotos también recibieron Beobachtungsuhren (B-Uhr) de 55 mm para navegación de bombarderos, hechos por A. Lange, IWC, Wempe, Stowa y Lacher (Laco)—, pero los cronógrafos de pulsera estándares para todos los pilotos fueron Cal. 59 + Cal. 41.

• Pequeño segundero a las 9 horas — confirmación visual de marcha (el reloj funciona), independiente del cronógrafo.
• Volante monometálico de tornillos — masa ajustable por desplazamiento de los tornillos del aro. Permite regulación de inercia para precisión.
• Espiral Nivarox-Breguet — Nivarox era la aleación antimagnética de referencia desde los 30s; la curva Breguet (terminal levantada) mejora isocronismo.
• Protección antichoques — Incabloc o equivalente, esencial para el uso de cabina.

El diseño exterior · convención visual Luftwaffe

El diseño del exterior del Fliegerchronograph Cal. 59 se estandarizó en torno a varios elementos que hoy son códigos visuales icónicos:

• Dial negro mate con números arábigos luminosos prominentes (radium en piezas originales, sustituido por tritio y posteriormente SuperLuminova en reediciones). El alto contraste blanco luminoso sobre negro maximiza la legibilidad nocturna y bajo iluminación de cabina roja.
• Manos "poire squelette" ("pera esqueletizada") — perfil distintivo alemán de la era, con cuerpo abierto que muestra el dial debajo. Diferente del estilo "cathedral" (suizo) o del "dauphine" (más civil/dressy).

Volumen y emisión · ~30.000 piezas para la Luftwaffe

Durante el período 1941–1945, UROFA produjo y entregó aproximadamente 30.000 unidades del Cal. 59 montadas como Fliegerchronograph completo. Es un volumen significativo —para comparación, Hanhart entregó volúmenes similares con su Cal. 41 en la misma ventana—. La emisión iba directamente a la Luftwaffe, no a comercio civil: cada pieza tenía marcado militar, asignación a unidad y, en muchos casos, asignación nominal al piloto.

El Hanhart Cal. 41 es el contrapunto histórico inseparable del Cal. 59. Las dos casas competían operativamente —Tutima en Glashütte (Sajonia, este alemán), Hanhart en Schwenningen (Selva Negra, sudoeste alemán)— pero produjeron piezas equivalentes para el mismo cliente militar. Ambas casas reactivaron sus respectivas líneas históricas en la era moderna (Tutima desde el regreso a Glashütte 1997 + reedición 1999 + Tempostopp 2017; Hanhart desde su propio reposicionamiento contemporáneo). En 2026, son referenciadas conjuntamente cuando se habla de "Fliegerchronograph alemán original" — son las dos firmas legítimas de esa categoría histórica.

Reedición 1999 · cómo se reactivó la lineage

Tras 54 años de hueco operativo, Tutima lanzó en 1999 la reedición Fliegerchronograph 1941: una recreación 38,7 mm fiel al original, con dial negro mate, números luminosos, manos poire squelette, pulsadores simétricos, caseback cerrado con grabado heritage. El calibre era una base Lemania/Valjoux modificada (no un nuevo in-house — eso vendría 14 años después con el Cal. 617). La reedición sirvió tres propósitos: (1) reactivar el storytelling Cal. 59 con un objeto físico contemporáneo, (2) generar revenue para financiar el regreso operativo a Glashütte, (3) probar la demanda comercial de la lineage heritage —que se confirmó suficiente para justificar el desarrollo posterior del Cal. T-659 in-house en 2017—.

El cierre del círculo · Cal. T-659 Tempostopp 2017

En 2017, para el 90 aniversario de UROFA/UFAG, Tutima lanzó el Tempostopp con el Cal. T-659 (variante posterior T-660). La decisión fue deliberada: recrear el Cal. 59 con tecnología contemporánea de manufactura propia. Funciones idénticas: cronógrafo flyback con rueda de columnas, cuerda manual. Arquitectura idéntica: platina tres cuartos Glashütte, 65 h reserva, hand finishing. Diferencia: el T-659 tiene 236 piezas (vs ~170 del Cal. 59 original), un nivel de finishing visible mucho mayor (el T-659 se exhibe a través de caseback zafiro; el Cal. 59 vivía bajo caseback cerrado), y especificaciones materiales modernas (rubíes superiores, acero anti-magnético DIN, lubricantes contemporáneos).

El Tempostopp se vende en ~€20.000–30.000+ en producción muy limitada. Es la pieza grial del catálogo Tutima — la encarnación literal del retorno Cal. 59 → Cal. T-659. Para coleccionistas, posee una propiedad rara: el Tempostopp cierra un círculo histórico que pocas marcas relojeras pueden cerrar legítimamente. The context · standard German Fliegerchronograph 1939–1945

In 1939, at the start of World War II, the German Luftwaffe needed a standardised wrist chronograph for its pilots. The critical functions were: (1) timing navigation legs (a pilot on a bombing or reconnaissance mission marked the start of each leg when flying over a waypoint), (2) executing instant resets between consecutive legs (a pilot couldn''t afford to stop the chronograph, reset and restart it mid-flight — he needed flyback), (3) maintaining cockpit legibility (luminous indices, high contrast), (4) withstanding extreme altitude cold and engine vibration.

Two German houses took on the development in parallel: Hanhart (founded 1882, in Schwenningen, Black Forest · military chronographs since 1939 with its Calibre 41) and Tutima (via UROFA, in Glashütte · with its Calibre 59 from 1941). The two combined productions constitute the German WWII Fliegerchronograph heritage. They were not the only mechanical pieces the Luftwaffe used —pilots also received 55 mm Beobachtungsuhren (B-Uhr) for bomber navigation, made by A. Lange, IWC, Wempe, Stowa and Lacher (Laco)—, but the standard wrist chronographs for all pilots were Cal. 59 + Cal. 41.

Cal. 59 architecture · verified specs

UROFA''s Calibre 59 is a hand-wound movement with the following technical features (verified in specialist literature and documented surviving pieces):

• Column-wheel-activated chronograph — the premium option over cam-driven. Defined and consistent pusher feel, less long-term wear, watchmaking prestige. The same choice houses like Patek (CH 29-535) or Lange (L951.6 of the Datograph) would make decades later for their top chronographs.
• Flyback function — a single pusher (typically at 4) executes three actions in sequence with one click: stops, resets and restarts the chronograph. Critical for aerial navigation use, rare in civilian chronographs of the period.

Volume and issue · ~30,000 pieces for the Luftwaffe

During 1941–1945, UROFA produced and delivered approximately 30,000 units of the Cal. 59 mounted as complete Fliegerchronographs. It is a significant volume —for comparison, Hanhart delivered similar volumes with its Cal. 41 in the same window. Delivery went directly to the Luftwaffe, not to civilian commerce: each piece had military marking, unit assignment and, in many cases, nominal assignment to the pilot.

The receiving pilots covered the full spectrum of air roles: fighters (Bf 109, Fw 190), bombers (He 111, Ju 88), Stuka crews (Junkers Ju 87) —especially documented—, transport (Ju 52), reconnaissance. The chronograph was the pilot''s personal equipment: he wore it on every mission, returned with it, and handed it back at the end of service (or kept it depending on the case).

Hanhart Cal. 41 · the historical parallel

The Hanhart Cal. 41 is the historical counterpart inseparable from the Cal. 59. The two houses competed operationally —Tutima in Glashütte (Saxony, East Germany), Hanhart in Schwenningen (Black Forest, southwest Germany)— but produced equivalent pieces for the same military client. Key identification differences for collectors:

Both houses reactivated their respective historical lines in the modern era (Tutima since the 1997 return to Glashütte + 1999 reissue + 2017 Tempostopp; Hanhart since its own contemporary repositioning). In 2026, they are referenced jointly when people speak of the "original German Fliegerchronograph" — they are the two legitimate signatures of that historical category.

1999 reissue · how the lineage was reactivated

After a 54-year operational gap, Tutima launched in 1999 the Fliegerchronograph 1941 reissue: a 38.7 mm faithful recreation, with matte black dial, luminous numerals, poire squelette hands, symmetrical pushers, closed caseback with heritage engraving. The calibre was a modified Lemania/Valjoux base (not a new in-house — that would come 14 years later with the Cal. 617). The reissue served three purposes: (1) reactivate the Cal. 59 storytelling with a contemporary physical object, (2) generate revenue to finance the operational return to Glashütte, (3) test commercial demand for the heritage lineage —which was confirmed sufficient to justify the later development of the in-house Cal. Closing the circle · Cal. T-659 Tempostopp 2017

In 2017, for UROFA/UFAG''s 90th anniversary, Tutima launched the Tempostopp with the Cal. T-659 (later variant T-660). The decision was deliberate: recreate the Cal. 59 with contemporary in-house manufacture technology. Identical functions: column-wheel flyback chronograph, hand-wound. Identical architecture: Glashütte three-quarter plate, 65 h reserve, hand finishing. Difference: the T-659 has 236 parts (vs ~170 in the original Cal. 59), a much higher visible finishing level (the T-659 is exhibited through sapphire caseback; the Cal. 59 lived under closed caseback), and modern material specifications (superior jewels, DIN antimagnetic steel, contemporary lubricants).

The Tempostopp sells at ~€20,000–30,000+ in very limited production. It is the grail piece of the Tutima catalogue — the literal embodiment of the Cal. 59 → Cal. T-659 return. For collectors, it has a rare property: the Tempostopp closes a historical circle few watch brands can legitimately close. Without the 1941 Cal. 59, the Tempostopp would be one more in-house flyback chronograph; with it, it is the only contemporary piece that reactivates a proprietary lineage interrupted 72 years earlier.

Fue diseñada específicamente como vehículo para el debut del Cal. 617 in-house — el primer calibre verdaderamente manufacturado en casa por Tutima desde el Cal. 59 de 1941. Posicionalmente, la Patria es la "pieza de prueba" técnica de la marca: si funciona, justifica todo el regreso operativo a Glashütte; si no funciona, todo el storytelling se diluye. En 2026, trece años después, funciona — y el premio INHORGENTA lo certifica públicamente.

El catálogo Patria ofrece varias variantes (steel, distintos diales, distintas correas). La caja · 41 mm × 11,2 mm de titanio grado 5 pulido

La caja de la Patria 6612-03 mide 41 mm de diámetro × 11,2 mm de altura, materializada en titanio grado 5 con acabado pulido. Tres rasgos a destacar:

• Titanio grado 5 en dressy es inusual. La convención dressy histórica es acero, oro blanco u oro amarillo. El titanio se asocia tradicionalmente con sport, diver o tool watches (la línea M2 de Tutima usa titanio para tactical). Usar titanio en una pieza dressy es decisión estética + funcional: el titanio es ~40% más ligero que el acero, lo que cambia la sensación en muñeca (la pieza casi "desaparece"), y resiste mucho mejor los arañazos cosméticos. La pieza puede usarse a diario sin la ansiedad de proteger el acabado.
• El pulido sobre titanio es técnicamente exigente. El titanio tiene una respuesta distinta al pulido respecto al acero — su dureza y su tendencia a "agarrar" la herramienta hacen que el acabado especular sea más difícil de lograr de manera homogénea. El cristal frontal es de zafiro abovedado con tratamiento antireflejo. El abovedado no es solo estético —genera una distorsión sutil del dial cuando se mira en ángulo, que es parte del lenguaje dressy clásico—. El tratamiento antireflejo neutraliza la mayor parte de los reflejos que el zafiro normalmente produce.

El caseback es de zafiro y exhibe el Cal. 617. Es el rasgo visual más definitorio de la pieza al darla vuelta. Ver sección dedicada más abajo.

El dial · graphite gris con décor texturizado

El dial es la firma estética más distintiva de la 6612-03. Tres elementos:

• Color "graphite": un gris medio-oscuro con una sutileza tonal que no es ni el blanco del Patria steel clásico ni el negro del Patria black variant. Es una elección intermedia que cambia el carácter de la pieza: más contemporánea, más "íntima", menos formal-banquete y más "casual-erudite". Combina especialmente bien con el titanio pulido de la caja (los dos materiales gris-plata-graphite se refuerzan mutuamente).
• Décor texturizado: el dial no es liso. Tiene una textura sutil (probablemente un grabado guilloché ligero o un patrón fino) que recompensa la mirada cercana sin gritar a distancia. Es la convención dressy alemana / Glashütte: detalle invisible a un metro, fascinante a 30 cm.
• Índices y manos clásicos: la pieza mantiene la configuración Patria histórica con manos dauphine afiladas y aplicación de índices clásicos. Sin alarde visual; la complejidad va dentro del dial (textura) y al fondo (movimiento).

El movimiento · Cal. 617 in-house manual

El corazón de la pieza. El Cal. 617 es el primer calibre verdaderamente in-house de Tutima desde el Cal. 59 de 1941 — un hueco de 72 años. Specs verificadas:

• Cuerda manual. No automático. Es una decisión deliberada (no de coste): la cuerda manual ofrece más finura, exige más implicación del usuario, encaja con la identidad dressy de la Patria.
• Reserva de marcha 65 horas. Permite quitarse la pieza un fin de semana sin necesidad de re-cargar el lunes. Es reserva extendida competitiva contemporánea.
• Frecuencia 21.600 vph (3 Hz). Frecuencia clásica para cuerda manual de alta gama — más baja que la 28.800 vph (4 Hz) de los automáticos modernos, pero adecuada para isocronismo y eficiencia energética.
• 166 piezas, 20 rubíes. Conteo de componentes proporcionado a la complejidad — más alto que un Sellita SW200 estándar (~26 rubíes pero ~145 piezas), reflejando la arquitectura propia.
• 3 chatones de oro montados con tornillo. En los pivotes críticos del tren de engranajes. Los chatones son anillos de oro que sostienen los rubíes; el oro mejora la calidad de los lubricantes y la longevidad. El montaje con tornillo (vs prensado) es la convención más fina — permite servicio y muestra una firma estética visible a través del caseback zafiro.
• Platina tres cuartos Glashütte con baño dorado. Es la firma visual sajona heredada de Adolph Lange en 1845. Cubre tres cuartos del movimiento como una sola placa (vs los puentes individuales del estilo suizo). El baño dorado (gold plating) genera el color cálido característico que se ve a través del caseback. Es la firma estética inmediata que dice "esto es Glashütte".
• Puente del volante esqueletizado pulido a mano. El puente que sostiene el volante (la pieza oscilante crítica) está perforado/esqueletizado para visibilidad, con todos los bordes pulidos negros (black polish) a mano. Es un detalle de finishing de alto grado.

Estimación de contenido in-house: ~80–90%. La gran mayoría de las piezas se manufacturan en Glashütte; los componentes externos (espiral, rubíes) provienen de proveedores especializados (Nivarox-FAR, Carl Haas, etc.) que ninguna marca relojera en el mundo fabrica internamente al 100%.

INHORGENTA 2026 · Mechanical Watch of the Year

La INHORGENTA Munich es una de las ferias relojeras y de joyería más importantes de Europa central. El premio Mechanical Watch of the Year es la categoría top del segmento mecánico. En 2026, la Patria —específicamente la variante 6612-03 Titanium Graphite, según la documentación pública del premio— ganó este reconocimiento. La validación pública coloca a Tutima al lado de las casas premium del distrito de Glashütte y de la industria suiza-alemana general, en un movimiento de posicionamiento que ningún esfuerzo de marketing podría replicar.
